Who We are

History of Harvester

In 1981, a group of 40 people had a vision to establish a new church in Harvester, Missouri with the aim of sharing the message of Jesus and bringing hope to the community. Over the years, our little church has grown significantly and developed into what is now known as Harvester Christian Church.

Today, we have multiple campuses spread throughout the region, and are reaching out to thousands of people in our city and around the world, spreading the message and hope of Jesus.

Mission

“Leading people to find and follow Jesus” is why we exist as a church. Our heart is to intentionally lead family and friends, coworkers and neighbors to find Jesus, and then to follow Jesus step by step, each and every day.

Vision

We accomplish our mission by leading the world to Encounter Jesus, Become Like Jesus, and Unleash the Hope of Jesus back into a lost and wounded world.

THE WORLD

“For God so loved the world…” is where our vision begins. The church was meant to be present within a lost and wounded world, caring for it instead of merely trying to escape it. A compassionate presence in our city is an integral part of people finding Jesus.

ENCOUNTER JESUS

We are a church centered on the name of Jesus, and we seek to encounter him and his presence. We worship him in Spirit, hear from him in scripture, commune with him in sacrament, and baptize into his name. And we lovingly invite others to encounter Jesus, too.

BECOME LIKE JESUS

It’s not enough to know about Jesus; this is a church that seeks to become like him. Just like Jesus we pray, study, and worship with others and on our own. For us spiritual maturity is not measured by how much we know, but how well we love God and one another.

UNLEASH THE HOPE OF JESUS

Where Satan unleashes hell, we unleash hope! This is a church that generously serves, gives, and goes. Our desire is to care for lost and wounded people – locally and globally – by unleashing all the blessings that Jesus has already unleashed on us back into the world.

Our Values

  • Colossians 3:13

Grace is a second chance from God that none of us earns or deserves. The grace we have freely received, we freely offer to all.

  • Gen. 1:1; John 1:1; 14

In humility we believe, teach, and speak Biblical truths revealed to us by God through his son, and the scriptures.

  • Psalm 139:23-24

We seek to know God personally, through contemplative practices that shape us into the likeness of his son, Jesus.

  • Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Peter 3:8

We seek Christ-centered relationships where we learn to love one another and find unity in Jesus despite our differences.

  • 2 Corinthians 9:11

We are generous with our time, talents, and treasures for the benefit of others, just as God has been generous toward each of us.

  • Genesis 1:27; Proverbs 14:31

We believe all people are made in God’s image and are to be treated with dignity and equity. We care for and protect those who are not.
