GIVE THE GIFT OF JESUS

With every gift there’s a story to tell. And giving the gift of Jesus carries with it a story that can last forever. Your act of loving-kindness will not only positively influence who you give to, but also those who hear about it.

So as God leads you to give this Christmas, please share your giving story, too! Write your story on one of the tags provided at the Giving Trees all around Harvester, so others can read it and be inspired to write their own story. We’ll also post many of the stories on this website as well as on social media.

We all need Jesus. Now here are some fun and creative ways to give Him to those around you. Please use these ideas to get you started:

  • Firehouses

Take baked goods or a meal to fire station. Talk with the fire fighters and pray with them when you deliver it.

  • Hospitals

Take a cold cut tray or baked goods to an ICU waiting room.  Use them as an ice breaker to listen to and pray with the families in there.

Call the children’s ward at the hospital and ask if there is a family there that could use meals, encouragement or visits at the hospital. Bring them food, stop in to pray or just visit.

  • Dedicate a day to noticing others

Dedicate a day to noticing others by saying hello, holding doors, letting people over in traffic, thanking those who serve you, praying for people that you encounter, letting people go first, etc. – then talk about your experiences from that day as a family that night.

  • Homeless

Instead of giving money to someone who is homeless or begging, take them food and sit down with them for a meal together or take them to a fast food restaurant to share a meal.  Ask them about their story.

  • Schools

Take muffins to your child’s school one morning for the teachers and staff.  Spend time talking with them as you give them out and ask them how you can pray for them that day.

Ask teacher if there is a specific need for the classroom that the district doesn’t supply.
