We are trying to legally adopt our 5 year old grandson who is currently being cared for by his great grandparents in Canada. Our daughter is not able to care for him because she is homeless and is on drugs. The father is unstable and not able to care for him either. My husband's parents know that they are unable to fully care for him due to their age. The legal process was moving along ok until my husband's parents recently decided they would not willingly give up custody to us. We want to provide our grandson with a healthy, loving home where he can have friends, go to church, and thrive in school. Living with my husband's parents does not give him a "normal" childhood - he is too isolated. Because we are living in the US and the rest of the family is in Canada we need my husband's parents to willingly support us and sign appropriate paperwork. We want to give our grandson the love and attention he deserves and we especially want him to be allowed to attend church and learn about God. We also plan to make sure he maintains his relationship with his great grandparents thru regular visits.
We do not want to cut him off from them, we just want to provide a better life for him that what he is currently experiencing.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us and lead us down a path that will give our grandson all that he needs to survive and, most importantly, to thrive in the Love of Jesus. Thank you.
